Luke Chapter 4

Jesus in the wilderness
(The temptations of Jesus)

After His baptism the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness. For forty day He was without food. Satan perceived this as an ideal time to launch an attack on the Lord. The attack had only one aim - to lead Jesus into sin. What victory this would have given satan. Notice the three temptations that satan brought to Jesus fit neatly into the three temptations mentioned in 1 John 2: 15 -17, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.

These three deadly temptations are still operated by satan today. Jesus conquered sin on our behalf. Don't try fighting your own battles. Look to the one who has given us the victory.
