In the days in which we live in, especially in the western world, it seems many do not want to wait for what they require. Most services can be booked in advance by an appointment. However, when we do have to wait for a short while we complain and feel that we are wasting our time.
This is probably one reason for drive through food services and unhealthy meals as many are not prepared to wait for the preparation of fresh meals.
When you go for a service and you refuse to wait for your turn to be serviced or attended to due to a delay what is the outcome? You don?t get what you went there for. You abort the result.
*The word wait means to stay where one is until a particular time or event.
It also means to rest, stay, keep still, remain or sit tight.
My friend, the word ?wait? and the art of waiting is required of us as Christians.
When was the last time you waited upon the Lord in prayer? Some of us go for short services so we can dash out of church. Even when we do go for prayer meetings and we are told to wait upon the Lord, we don?t know what to do. Some go for frequent toilet runs or just wander in space. What happened to the act of waiting!
Psalms 27:14 -
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Do you need strength for your heart, then wait on the Lord.
Psalms 37:7a -
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him:
Sometimes we need to wait patiently for the Lord.
Isaiah 40:29 ?
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
The secret of continuous strength is waiting upon the Lord.
When we wait upon the Lord, we get what we want of Him. God is not like man, He does not run out of resources. One concern of waiting for many in the natural is perhaps after all this waiting, l will not get what l want.
Have you ever queued and waited to buy petrol and it ran out before your turn? This never applies to God.
Isaiah 49:23 (b): for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.
Lamentations 3:25 -
The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
Ask me why we have to wait? I don?t know, all l know is that scripture requires us to wait. If we don?t wait, we wont get what we want. We will simply abort the result and live below Gods best and His desires for us.
Lets restore the act of waiting upon the Lord.
