Its not about the sacrifice but the motive.
Will you give your body to be burnt if it will profit you nothing?
What a great price for a person?s body to be burnt for a good deed or something that they firmly believe in. Some people pay great sacrifices for their beliefs and good deeds.
Suppose you heard of a person say "I want to destroy the world tomorrow so that the world is wiped off. If I cannot do it l will burn my body". Almost everyone reading this article will judge the motive of such a great price as wrong.
If such a person then burns their body because he/she could not achieve what they wanted to, does the cost they paid make the motive right? You are likely to say no.
Only God can judge the heart and our motives. How we commend great displays of sacrifices or actions, however in Gods eyes there may be no profit in it.
1 Corinthians 13:3 - Says: And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not love, it profiteth me nothing(KJV).
As much as the above illustration shows that the great sacrifice is a waste of time, so does any great action / sacrifice done with no love. In this instance, love here is Gods standard of Love.
How we need to judge ourselves in the area of love? Lets not be deceived, the sacrifice could be great, however in Gods eyes, it may be of no profit.
Our God is a God of love. The bible says that God is love. It does not say that God has love, but He is love.
We need to walk in love as Christians and not get carried away with outward appearances and great sacrifices that may profit nothing.
We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death 1 John 3:14 (KJV).
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth 1 John 3:18.
It?s only wise to have a reward from God for what we do. Now that we know the requirements, lets walk and do accordingly.
