The inevitable

It is only sensible to prepare for things that will surely happen. Some things in life are bound to happen and not preparing for those things or not knowing how to respond to such may lead to disaster.

The word of God states that offences will surely come.

Luke 17:1(a) - Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come.
Matthew 18:7 - Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come.

Note that the bible says that offences will come, but it does not say that you should get offended.

Offences come from various sectors of life, justified and unjustified.
Offences come from the work environment, church, family, friends, neighbours and other areas of life.

Next time you get an opportunity to respond to offence, know its part of life. The most important thing is that we learn to live above offence. God?s grace and Word are well able to help.

Things that can help us live above offence include:

Loving the word of God
Psalm 119: 165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Abounding in the Love of God
Philippians 1:9 -10 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; that ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.

Offences will surely come but we do not need to be offended.

To be offended is a trap, which could lead to disaster. Lets be wise and prepare for the inevitable by loving God?s word and growing and abounding in His Love. For Love covers a multitude of sins.
