Do not drop your weapons

We are all familiar with the way in which a violent offender is arrested.
He is first instructed to drop his weapons and raise up his hands as a sign of surrender. The policeman would say something like ?drop your weapons? and then proceed to search the premises for any hidden weapons after the suspect has duly arrested.

As Christians, God has given us weapons and sometimes we drop them carelessly rendering ourselves vulnerable to the attacks of the devil. Ephesians 6:11 says ?put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. One translation says you must wear all the weapons in God?s armoury (Knox).

God has given us so many weapons of warfare.
Ephhesians 6:16 speaks about the shield of faith ?Above all taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one? which means dropping the shield of faith makes a person vulnerable to the fiery darts of the wicked one. Verse 17 speaks about the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God. 2 Thessalonians 15 :8 says ?But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.?

Brethren, we need to be aware of the weapons God has given us and wage a good warfare with them. It may mean spending more time studying and hearing Gods Word ? for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God?. We cannot afford to be ignorant of our weapons neither can we afford to drop them carelessly.

God knows that we need them and this is why Ephesians 6:13 says ?wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand, stand therefore?.
